Finally beaten!
I was finally beaten by Vista unreliability and had to do a complete re-install. The install has been inplace for nearly a week now (its taken me this long to get things back to where they were!) and now I've started using my system again its generally been reliable but as you can see from the chart, things are still deterioating.
Its difficult to say how this compares with the mac as I dont tend to do as much "Mucking" around on the Mac and just get on with work, but my impression is that OS X is much more stable.
My patience also finally gave out with the user access control "feature" on Vista. I was expecting the amount of clicking to reduce as it learnt my system and habits but this did not seem to occur. In the end I was just pressing ok without thinking and so figured I may as well turn it off and go back to being careful!
